   There are loads to do in and around the area of Vega Baja. Here are just a few suggestions you will find in the Guest Information Binder in the unit.
  * Beaches abound. There are 4 famous beaches within minutes of each other. The breathtaking Puerto Nuevo Beach right in Vega Baja, Los Tubos and Mar Chiquita in nearby Manati, and Dorado Beach.
   *  Bosque Estatal de Vega, the forest facilities include: a recreation area and paths for long walks to observe the fauna and flora of the forest. ( Vega Alta,15 minute drive west)
  * Museo de Arte, Historia, y Cultura Casa Alonso, a National Historic Site, this museum is housed in a neoclassic Creole style of Spanish masonry,pebbles,bricks, and wood.
(10 minute drive into the town of Vega Baja)
   *Teatro Fenix, Built in 1917 and recently renovated. Stop by to see if there's una Obra de Teatro playing.

  *Tortuguero  Lagoon,considered the greater body of fresh water in the island of Puerto Rico.( Vega Baja, 7-10 minute drive)
   * Various Professional Golf  Courses( Dorado,under 20 minutes drive)

   *Outlet Shopping at Barceloneta, Find a variety of famous brand-name shops all at discounted factory prices. The Gap, Liz Clairborne, Calvin Klien,and much more! (10-15 minute drive on the expressway)
   *El Condado area and Old San Juan
    This is Puerto Rico's Metropolitan area and as such,it is always bustling with many activities to tentalize the senses. It offers something for everyone from outlet shopping to Night-Club hopping with live entertainment. Try your luck at one of the Casinos, these are located in the well-known Hotels dotting the Main Strip of El Condado. Explore our wonderful History and Culture with a day trip to one of our many must-see Attractions ie. El Castillo de San Felipe,in El Viejo San Juan. While you're there experience El Paseo de la Princesa,where you'll find many colorful kiosks selling Artesania (Arts and Crafts hand-crafted by licensed artisans) and Puerto Rican Antojitos (delicious treats such as beef patties"pastelillos" and cod fish fritters "bacalaitos") and tropical fruit frappes and "helados", ice cream. YUM!
   On weekends, get a flavor of our island's  folklore and enjoy a show hosted by the Office of Puerto Rico Tourism. There's live entertainment on an open stage overlooking the fabulous San Juan Bay. Sometimes music, sometimes a performance by a dance troupe moving to the rythyms of folklore music,  but always with the purpose of introducing our  visitors to the island's rich culture and traditions. Right here, in the Heart of  our Very own Viejo San Juan. Come join us!
